Where is Krui?
Krui is a small town located on the southwestern coast of Sumatra, which is an island in western Indonesia. It’s known for its beautiful beaches and is a popular destination for surfers due to its excellent waves.
The Surf
You’ve probably heard enough about Krui’s double overhead beach breaks, peaks, slabs, and points… But did you know? The waves along the southern end of the bay in Krui are more sheltered from open ocean swells, providing fun conditions ideal for less experienced surfers. So, no matter your level, we have waves for everybody.
FAQs
Your burning questions answered:
Due to more consistent swells and favorable wind conditions, the surf season in Krui typically runs from April to October, with the best waves often occurring between June and August.
During the shoulder and off seasons (November to March), Krui still offers good surfing conditions, especially for intermediate and beginner surfers. While the waves might not be as big or consistent as during the peak season, it means fewer crowds and a more laid-back atmosphere. It’s a great time to practice and improve your skills without feeling pressured by the competition for waves. With the right approach, you can still have plenty of fun and enjoyable sessions in Krui during these months.
Step 1: Fly to Radin Inten II International Airport (TKG) in Bandar Lampung, it is your gateway to Krui. You can fly here from major cities in Indonesia, such as Jakarta or Bali.
Step 2: We will pick you up by car to get you safely to Krui. The journey from the airport to Krui typically takes around 6 to 7 hours by road. This estimate can vary depending on factors such as traffic conditions.
We recommend to bring at least 2 boards, or 3 to be safe.
We recommend having a few surfing sessions before visiting Krui if you’ve never surfed before. Being able to stand up on the board and feel comfortable maneuvering both left and right are the basic skills necessary to fully enjoy your trip!
